Interstellar series
A brand new Interstellar series from one of our favorite contemporary urban artists Xavier Magaldi is now available on iazzu. These thrilling works are hard to pass up!
Through years of mastering two completely different crafts – graffiti and watchmaking – Swiss artist Xavier Magaldi has created a unique artistic style that made his works highly sought-after. He just recently sold one of his sculptures at Galartis, an auction house in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Only in the mind of a true artist could these completely different metiers be fused in one distinctive visual language that is instantly recognizable. Drawing on both experiences, as well as on masterpieces of French Cubists and Italian Futurists, Magaldi created a new style of art called MecaFuturism. Characterized by geometry and mechanical imagery, technical precision, attention to detail, simple color palette and clarity, it appeals to reason rather than to the emotions. Everything is highly controlled in Magaldi’s mecafuturist world and an emphasis on form over content and logic over emotion is clear. However, despite the restrained approach, Magaldi’s artworks do reflect strong dynamism, primarily through vivid accents of light.
In his latest series of paintings, available exclusively on iazzu, Magaldi continues to develop a style of reduced shapes, clear lines and monochromatic colors in order to capture the essential energy and force of various elements employed. The Interstellar series catches the eye of the viewer immediately. By synthesizing once intricate mechanical elements and focusing on strong tonal contrasts, Magaldi now moves away from geometry and approaching abstraction. A selection of extremely desirable works quickly pull the viewer into Magaldi’s world where the line between the art of horology and graphic art, representational and abstract art, and tradition and modernity is blurred.
