Sculpture Quadriennale

As part of the Quadriennale of Sculptors in Geneva (ASdG), a unique event held every four years since 1975, two Corten steel sculptures, each standing 1.8 meters tall, together with an augmented reality artwork, will be presented.

Organized in collaboration with the City of Lancy, the exhibition will take place in the Marignac swimming pool park, transformed for the occasion into an open-air exhibition space. Over 42 regional artists will be featured, offering visitors an immersion into Geneva’s contemporary sculpture scene.

Participating in this event represents a valuable opportunity to engage with fellow sculptors, exchange artistic perspectives, and foster a stimulating creative dialogue. The exhibited works embody a modern and avant-garde language, aligned with an artistic approach that combines innovation and refined aesthetics. This direction also reflects a broader ambition to develop monumental sculptures and public art projects aimed at enriching urban environments through large-scale works.

Since 1975, the Quadriennale has established itself as a key event in contemporary sculpture. The architectural setting of the Marignac swimming pool hosts this edition bringing together 42 artists — primarily Geneva-based — presenting works across diverse techniques including wood, stone, metal, and textile. In an innovative gesture, a virtual sculpture conceived by Xavier Magaldi can be experienced via QR code.

Beyond virtual reality, the artist also develops augmented reality (AR) practices enabling sculptures to be projected into their intended context. This technology overlays creations onto the real world, opening a new interpretative dimension and allowing the visualization of sculptural integration prior to physical realization.

This experimental engagement with immersive technologies, particularly augmented reality, offers promising perspectives for the future of contemporary sculpture.
